High School Senior Photography in Des Moines, Iowa
Senior year has a way of slipping by
One milestone blending into the next before you’ve had a chance to slow down. Busy schedules, big decisions, and everything changing at once. It can feel like there’s never quite enough time to pause and take it all in.
Senior portraits are one of the few moments where you get to do just that. They’re a chance to capture who your senior is right now — their style, their confidence, the version of them you want to remember as this chapter comes to a close.
That’s why my senior sessions are designed to be personality-driven and intentionally relaxed. Whether this is your first senior or your youngest child graduating, I guide you through every step so nothing feels rushed or uncertain. The result is a thoughtful experience and finished artwork that feel genuine, timeless, and uniquely yours.
You might be wondering…
Will this feel easy to plan?
Will my senior feel comfortable in front of the camera?
Will these images actually feel like them?
You don’t need to answer those yet — just know that every part of the experience is built to support both you and your senior, from the first conversation through the finished artwork.
“Working with Jenny was a fantastic experience. She made the process of preparing and getting photos done so easy. She listened to my daughter and made her photo shoot dreams come true. ”

Senior Gallery
Senior year is a season worth documenting well.
Not rushed.
Not trendy.
Not forgotten in a folder on your phone.
This experience is designed to feel effortless from start to finish:
personalized planning
thoughtful location selection
wardrobe guidance
artwork that’s meant to live in your home long after graduation.
You show up. I’ll handle the rest.
Sessions range from $800–$1,900, and every one includes your planning consultation, your time in front of the camera, and the album or artwork that comes with it — no separate product order to plan for later. If you’re looking for something elevated, guided, and intentionally designed, you’re in the right place.
Hi, I'm Jenny — a Des Moines senior photographer.
If your senior needs a minute to feel comfortable with someone new — that's not a problem to fix before your session. That's exactly where we start.
Some seniors walk in ready to perform for the camera. Most don't, and that's more than okay with me. I spend the first part of every session just talking — about the shows they're watching, the music they're into, whatever they actually care about — until they forget they're being photographed at all. That's usually when the real photos start happening.
I'm not chasing trends or forcing poses that don't feel like them. I'm paying attention to who they are right now, and who they're starting to become as they head toward whatever's next. Every gallery looks different because every senior is different — the goal was never a formula, it was them.
And it's not just about the photos. From choosing what actually fits your home to guiding you through every step after the session, I take the parts that feel overwhelming off your plate — without ever taking you out of the decision.
Watching a senior see their own confidence in a photo for the first time, right before they take that next big step out into the world — that part never gets old. It's genuinely my favorite part of this job.
Simple Process
Choose Your Session
Browse the Focus, Deluxe, and Ultimate sessions, pick what fits your senior and your vision, and book your date. If you'd rather talk it through first, I'm always happy to connect — just reach out.
We Plan, Then We Capture
Once you're booked, we'll set up your planning consultation to cover outfits, locations, and what to expect. Then on session day, we'll keep things relaxed, using a variety of looks and locations to capture who your senior is right now — and who they're becoming.
The Reveal & Artwork Design
Once the images are ready, we'll work together to select favorites for the album or artwork already included in your session, and explore any upgrades — additional wall art, keepsakes, or extra copies — that would mean something for your family.
Senior Portrait Questions, Answered
-
Senior year fills up fast — between sports, activities, and college visits, the calendar disappears quicker than you’d think. Most families book 2-3 months in advance to ensure they get a date that works best for them (and their senior’s schedule). Booking early also gives us time to plan wardrobe, locations, and all the little details that make the experience stress-free. If you’re hoping for a specific season — like fall colors or spring blooms — I recommend reaching out as soon as possible to secure your spot.
-
Don’t worry, you won’t be figuring this out alone. I help every senior plan outfits that feel like them and photograph beautifully. Most sessions include a mix of looks: something casual, something elevated, and one outfit that feels a little bold or editorial. Once your session is booked, I’ll guide you through colors, textures, and styling so everything feels cohesive without feeling over-styled.
-
While hair and makeup aren’t included in the session, I’m happy to recommend trusted local artists if you’d like to add that extra polish. Many seniors choose professional makeup for their session because it photographs beautifully and helps them feel confident without looking overdone. Whether you go pro or DIY, I’ll offer guidance so everything photographs naturally and timelessly.
-
Yes — and many families love adding a few images together. Parents, siblings, and even pets are welcome for part of the session. These moments often end up being unexpected favorites, especially as senior year moves fast and family time starts to look a little different. I’ll help plan when and how to include everyone so it feels seamless, not chaotic.
-
Every session includes matching social-sized digital files for the images in your album or artwork — perfect for sharing online alongside what you display at home. Full-resolution, print-size files are available for anything beyond what's included; I'll walk you through those options at your image selection appointment. I believe your senior's portraits deserve to be experienced as artwork first, which is why the experience centers on beautifully printed pieces — with digital images to share, too.

Iowa weather likes to keep things interesting — and I always have a plan. If conditions aren’t ideal, we’ll either adjust the timing, shift locations, or reschedule as needed. I keep a close eye on the forecast leading up to your session and communicate clearly, so you never feel stressed or unsure. You can trust that we’ll make the best call together.
