Senior year goes faster than you expect

Senior year has a way of slipping by. One milestone blending into the next before you’ve had a chance to slow down. Between busy schedules, big decisions, and everything changing at once, it can feel like there’s never quite enough time to pause and take it all in.

Senior portraits are one of the few moments where you get to do just that. They’re a chance to capture who your senior is right now — their style, their confidence, the version of them you want to remember as this chapter comes to a close.

That’s why my senior sessions are designed to be personality-driven and intentionally relaxed. From planning through artwork, I guide the process so nothing feels rushed or overwhelming. The result is a thoughtful experience and images that feel genuine, timeless, and uniquely yours.

You might be wondering…

  • Will this feel easy to plan?

  • Will my senior feel comfortable in front of the camera?

  • Will these images actually feel like them?

You don’t need to answer those yet — just know that every part of the experience is built to support both you and your senior, from the first conversation through the finished artwork.

Let’s Connect

We’ll start with a friendly consultation where I’ll get to know your senior’s personality, interests, and style. I’ll guide you through outfit ideas, location options, and what to expect so you feel fully prepared and excited for the session.

The Session Experience

On photo day, my goal is to make your senior feel confident and at ease. We’ll use a variety of looks, locations, and poses to capture images that highlight both who they are now and who they’re becoming. It’s relaxed, fun, and designed to reflect their unique personality.

The Reveal & Artwork Design

Once the images are ready, we’ll work together to select favorites and design custom artwork—albums, wall art, and keepsakes—that bring their story to life. I’ll guide you through every detail so you end up with heirlooms you’ll treasure for years.

Investment

Senior portrait experiences are customized based on the session you choose and the artwork you fall in love with.

Most families invest between $1,000–$2,000 on their full portrait experience and custom artwork.

I’ll guide you through every step so you’re never guessing what to order or how it will look in your home.

“Working with Jenny was a fantastic experience. She made the process of preparing and getting photos done so easy. She listened to my daughter and made her photo shoot dreams come true. All the photos were so beautiful it made picking our favorites the most difficult step in the process. I would highly recommend Jenny for any of your photography needs!”

Most families invest between $1,000–$2,000 in their custom senior portrait experience and artwork. If you’re looking for something elevated, guided, and intentionally designed, you’re in the right place.

Senior Portrait Questions, Answered

  • Senior year fills up fast — between sports, activities, and college visits, the calendar disappears quicker than you’d think. Most families book 3–6 months in advance to ensure they get a date that works best for them (and their senior’s schedule). Booking early also gives us time to plan wardrobe, locations, and all the little details that make the experience stress-free. If you’re hoping for a specific season — like fall colors or spring blooms — I recommend reaching out as soon as possible to secure your spot.

  • Don’t worry, you won’t be figuring this out alone. I help every senior plan outfits that feel like them and photograph beautifully. Most sessions include a mix of looks: something casual, something elevated, and one outfit that feels a little bold or editorial. Once your session is booked, I’ll guide you through colors, textures, and styling so everything feels cohesive without feeling over-styled.

  • While hair and makeup aren’t included for most session types, I’m happy to recommend trusted local artists if you’d like to add that extra polish. Many seniors choose professional makeup for their session because it photographs beautifully and helps them feel confident without looking overdone. Whether you go pro or DIY, I’ll offer guidance so everything photographs naturally and timelessly.

  • Yes — and many families love adding a few images together. Parents, siblings, and even pets are welcome for part of the session. These moments often end up being unexpected favorites, especially as senior year moves fast and family time starts to look a little different. I’ll help plan when and how to include everyone so it feels seamless, not chaotic.

  • Every printed image you order includes a matching social-size digital file, perfect for sharing online with friends and family. This ensures you can celebrate your senior both on your walls and on your screens.

Full-resolution, print-size digital files are included with select products or earned as part of your overall order. I’ll walk you through those options during your ordering appointment so you can choose what works best for how you want to enjoy and share your images.

I believe your senior’s portraits deserve to be experienced as artwork first — and this approach lets you enjoy beautifully printed pieces while still having digital images to share.

  • Iowa weather likes to keep things interesting — and I always have a plan. If conditions aren’t ideal, we’ll either adjust the timing, shift locations, or reschedule as needed. I keep a close eye on the forecast leading up to your session and communicate clearly, so you never feel stressed or unsure. You can trust that we’ll make the best call together.

Senior portraits you can’t wait to share

Hi I'm Jenny.  My favorite part of my job as a Des Moines senior photographer is working with seniors and teens is the energy they bring to their sessions and the creativity they want in their gallery. Each session is truly unique and reflects the personality of the subject. I spend time with each senior and teen getting to know not only who they are at this point in their life, but also who they are becoming as they grow into their independence. A portrait session at this point in their lives can have such an impact in helping them recognize their true beauty and gain self confidence before they take that next big step out into the world. Seeing them recognize this in themselves and being part of that process will never grow old for me
