More Than a Photographer — A Partner in Your Portrait Experience

Hey there ~

Welcome to my little corner of the internet.

I’m Jenny, a portrait photographer based in the Des Moines area, specializing in high school seniors, teens, and modern professional headshots. My goal is simple: create images that feel like you on your best day — confident, relaxed, and completely yourself.

My studio is located in the historic Valley Junction district of West Des Moines at 541 5th Street, where I meet with clients for consultations, headshot sessions, and ordering appointments. Because the space is shared with other photographers and sessions are often in progress, visits are by appointment only so every client has a calm, private experience.

Over the past seven years I’ve photographed seniors and professionals from across the Des Moines metro — including Johnston, Waukee, and West Des Moines — and what I love most is watching someone walk into their session a little unsure and leave realizing it was actually fun.

What drives my photography is capturing the unique story of each person I photograph.
The growing confidence of teens.
The excitement of a senior on the edge of their next chapter.
The passion behind a small business.
Or the quiet connection between family members as the years move faster than anyone expected.

Every session starts with a conversation so I can learn what makes you interesting, what you care about, and how we can turn that into images that feel meaningful long after the moment has passed.

A few things about me outside the camera:

I’m a wife to an incredibly patient man, a mom to two young adults who are now figuring out the world on their own, and the owner of one dangerously curious (but very sweet) cat.

I’m also one of the rare adults who doesn’t drink coffee… unless it’s in ice cream form. My morning drink of choice is tea — usually green or Earl Grey — which has caused more confusion among friends and family than I can reasonably explain.

Music is almost always playing somewhere nearby: in my office, the car, the kitchen, or out on the deck. At one point I thought I might become a music therapist, and while life took me down a different path, the way music shapes emotion and energy still influences the way I approach my photography.

If you're curious about creating something together, the next step is simple.

Send a message through my contact page, or use the text bubble at the bottom of your screen to say hello. I’d love to hear a little about you and start dreaming up ideas for your session.
