High School Senior Session - Kali
An on-stage senior session + fall color + downtown Des Moines
There are so many benefits to scheduling a professional photo shoot to commemorate your senior year. Many of my seniors are looking for an experience that is fun and makes them feel special. The parents are usually looking to celebrate their son or daughter’s final year of high school and capture memories of their personalities and the activities their child has participated in. The added benefit is that both the senior and the parents have beautiful images that will preserve this wonderful milestone that they can look back on as life changes pretty dramatically over the next couple of years. Looking back at these photos provides a sense of being cherished and connection to your family as the senior moves into the next stage of their life and moves onto college or into their own careers and apartments.
Kali and her parents reached out to me in her junior year about scheduling her senior photos for the upcoming fall. Her busy activity schedule left few dates available for senior pictures and they didn’t want to miss out on getting on the schedule for a date that wasn’t busy with other activities.
Kali knew what she wanted to capture in her senior photos so she could preserve the memories of what was important to her in her senior year. We worked together and planned out a session that incorporated her participation in choir and show choir throughout high school as well as the beautiful colors of fall.
We started in the auditorium of her high school, a place she has performed many concerts throughout her high school years. Most of our focus was a more subtle tribute that incorporated elements of the beautiful auditorium at her high school. But we also went big and produced some composite images that recreated the look of a performance.
The rest of her session we were outside and included both park settings as well as downtown locations. When she shared the outfits she had picked out for her session I had a few extra locations I thought would be a great addition to her gallery of images.
I had brought along a few accessories that I thought might work with some of her outfits. These sunglasses added a fun element to this stair sequence downtown.
She was a natural in front of the camera which gave us a little extra time to squeeze in these extra stops and I am so glad we did!
My favorite of her outfits was this bold colored dress which went so well with both the green foliage as well as the emerging fall colors.
